Psychologist for Personal Injury Cases

Emotional distress, pain and suffering, and loss of enjoyment of life are often the most valuable components of your client's claim — and the hardest to prove. You need more than a treating therapist's letter. You need a forensic evaluation that establishes clear DSM-5 diagnoses, documents proximate cause, separates injury-related conditions from pre-existing history, quantifies the impact on your client's functioning, and holds up under Daubert challenge and cross-examination.

I'm Dr. Jené Verchick, a Los Angeles forensic psychologist with over 26 years of clinical experience. I work directly with plaintiff attorneys to evaluate, document, and testify to the psychological damages in personal injury cases — motor vehicle accidents, traumatic brain injury, workplace injuries, medical malpractice, premises liability, catastrophic harm, and wrongful death survivor claims.

What I Provide to Your Case

I conduct comprehensive forensic psychological evaluations using standardized psychometric testing and clinical interview. Each evaluation results in a detailed written report that includes: diagnostic impressions with DSM-5 criteria, analysis of proximate cause linking the psychological condition to the incident, a thorough pre-existing condition analysis that anticipates defense arguments, documentation of impairment to daily functioning and quality of life, prognosis, and recommendations for future psychological treatment with associated cost projections to support your damages calculations.

I also review and rebut defense IME reports when the psychological findings are incomplete, methodologically flawed, or misleading — and can provide a written rebuttal opinion for use in motions or at trial.

Expert Witness Testimony

I am available for deposition and trial testimony. I present complex psychological evidence in clear, accessible language that resonates with judges, mediators, and juries. I am experienced in the adversarial process and prepared for rigorous cross-examination. My opinions are grounded in objective testing data and established clinical literature — not clinical impression alone.

How I Work With Your Team

I understand the pace and demands of litigation. I take referral questions directly from counsel, coordinate scheduling with your team, and deliver reports on your timeline. I am available throughout the case for consultation on psychological issues as they arise — whether that means advising on deposition strategy, reviewing medical records, or helping you frame the emotional damages narrative for demand, mediation, or trial. My goal is to be the easiest, most reliable expert on your roster.

If you need a forensic psychologist who strengthens the damages side of your case from evaluation through verdict, I would welcome the opportunity to work with you.
